Bringing Baby Home launch event
How involved are Britain’s dads in their babies’ first year, what’s their impact, and how well do we support them? In this free lunchtime webinar, Adrienne Burgess, head of research and joint CEO at the Fatherhood Institute, will present key findings from our new report, Bringing Baby Home: the fifth in our Contemporary Fathers in the UK series of evidence reviews, funded by the Nuffield Foundation.
Bringing Baby Home explores what we know from empirical research over more than two decades, about fathers in the UK in the first postnatal year: their situations, attitudes, characteristics, behaviours, and relationships; how these are associated with maternal wellbeing, and infant and child outcomes; and how dads are supported (or not) in the UK. We also identify substantive research gaps, and consider how policy and practice might be improved. Adrienne will talk us through the key findings, and answer your questions.

A ‘think-in’ with the Royal College of Midwives
Later this year we’ll be producing a Fatherhood Institute/ Royal College of Midwives toolkit, to help maternity professionals give father-engagement their best shot. On 14 June, we’re holding a lunchtime Zoom webinar – for midwives only – to explore what’s working, what could be better, and how to get there.
The event will feature short presentations from Adrienne Burgess, author of the Bringing Baby Home report; Professors Ranjana Das and Paul Hodkinson, sociologists from the University of Surrey, co-authors of New Fathers, Mental Health and Digital Communication; and Elliott Rae, founder of the Music Football Fatherhood website.
